Instructor: Bev Hills
9:30 am-12:30 pm
Skill Level: All Welcome
List of Materials brought by the Student:Scissors and a pen and a pocketed apron or shirt.
Supplies provided by the Instructor and kept by the Student: A Hartman Rug Hook (value $40), linen foundation with pattern, a hoop, yarns from Warner Mountain Weavers, and fabrics from Lani's Lana. (Also a gift from Bev – a finished hooked mug mat that you can dissect for instructional purposes, or not.)
In this class you are going to learn hooking with yarn and fabric strips. We will also learn Proddy to make fabulous flowers and feathers. All these techniques will combine together to create a hooked Otami textile that you will finish and take home.
Otami is the colorful floral and fauna embroidery you see on a Central Mexico “peasant” blouse, only we will use a rug hook instead of a needle for the same stunning results. One hook – two techniques!
Most classes are limited to 10-15 students so enroll early to guarantee your space.
